NebraskaLegislature.gov has a wide variety of research tools available to you for accessing legislative bills, amendments and documents, as well as state statutes and the Nebraska Constitution. QuickSearch allows users to:
- search for current bills and resolutions by bill number, the senator or committee that introduced them or by the date they were introduced;
- perform keyword searches of the Nebraska Revised Statutes, the Nebraska State Constitution, the Nebraska Uniform Commercial Code or all Nebraska laws;
- browse entire chapters or individual statutes; and
- follow legislative activity by day using the Legislative Calendar feature.
Agenda - The Agenda is the daily plan for legislative business. The Speaker of the Legislature sets the agenda daily during session. The agenda for the next legislative day is available at the end of each legislative day. Legislative Journal - The Legislative Journal is a record of official proceedings on the legislative floor. The Journal is prepared daily by the Journal Clerk's office and is available online. Copies of the Journal are also available through the Bill Room, Room 1102, State Capitol, Lincoln, NE 68509, (402) 471-2609. Bill Tracker - Bill Tracker is a service produced and provided by Nebraska.gov, the State of Nebraska's online provider. The Bill Tracker allows users to build profiles to more easily monitor groups of bills of interest to them. A free service is available for low volume users, and a fee-based service with more advanced features is available for higher-volume users. Committee Hearing Schedule and Interim Study Hearing Schedule - The committee hearing schedule is available at the end of each week during the legislative session. A schedule of interim committee hearings is available weekly during the summer and fall. Session Calendar - The Session Calendar is set by the Speaker of the Legislature and outlines the days in which senators will meet to conduct business during the legislative session. Worksheet - The Worksheet is a list showing the status of every bill and resolution at the beginning of each legislative day. It is produced daily during session. Summary Sheet - The Summary Sheet is compiled from the daily Journal at the end of each legislative day. It includes a description of activity that has taken place that day on bills and resolutions. It is available the following morning. Priority Bills - Priority bills are selected by senators, committees and the Speaker. These bills receive priority scheduling throughout the legislative process. Indexes of Legislative Bills & Constitutional Amendment Resolutions - Bill/CA Indexes are produced each session. Section indexes apply to the Nebraska Revised Statutes and the state constitution. This page also includes links to a session chronology and bill titles for carryover legislation. Interim Studies - Interim study resolutions are introduced by senators and committees in order to examine public policy issues in-depth during the interim. Budget Status - The Budget Status lists current projected revenue and budgeted expenditure totals for the current and upcoming biennium. Voting Records - The Voting Records page provides direction on how to use the resources available through this web site to research how senators voted on particular issues. Legislative Histories - The Legislative Histories page provides information on how to obtain and the availability of historical documents pertaining to legislation. Rules of the Legislature - The Rules of the Legislature govern the legislative process in order to ensure fair and efficient deliberations. The Rules are generally adopted by the Legislature at the beginning of each session.
